I'm Getting Old

Yes, I know by definition we all are getting old at the same rate, but today I said something I thought I never would.  Me and the GM had Radio 1 on in the office, when we both commented how all the songs that had been played sounded rubbish and the same. We wasn't just saying it because it wasn't "our thing", they 100% genuinely did sound very alike.  Oh, and then they played some hip hop.  First, it sounded like some white boy who must be about as gangsta as Will Smith, and then Jay Z with someone else which actually sounded terrible (and I like some of his stuff). I'm fairly certain that saying all new music sounds the same, is the start of old age :)

The Internet Is Taking Over Our High Street

Over the past couple of weeks, you have no doubt heard about the closure of several high street retailers, namely Jessops, HMV and Blockbuster.  It wasn't all that long ago we lost Woolworths, and most recently, Game ad Jonathan James have struggled. I'll be honest, out of the 3 recent closures, HMV doesn't at all surprise me.  You might think I'm just saying this, but Dec 24th 2011 I actually said to the other half that within a year they would be gone from the high street.  Ok, I may have been a couple of weeks off on my prediction, but hey, I guessed it. My reason?  Well, it was December 24th, 2011, and we had popped into town.  Noticing how dead and empty the town centre was, I just happened to mention that within 25 years, there will be no high street.  In fact, in 25 years, all I see our "high streets" consisting of are clothes shops, cafes/coffee shops and maybe shops that offer a service. As I work (read as co run) a successful e-commerce store,

Well That Sucks

In the space of 24hrs I've had a mortgage in principal, a quote and then today had my first offer rejected and told that the seller isn't open to offers..... We'll see about that!

Finding My Feet

Since setting up this blog, I have been asking myself if I should be covering a certain subject.  Or should it be more like an online diary, and post about general things that interest me? I've also been looking at various templates and designs, and still cannot think what to go with, so for the time being, I'll use this rather smart, standard design from Blogger. If anyone out there is reading my blog other than myself, I would appreciate a comment, particularly if you are a blogger too.  Should I cover a particular subject (or group of subjects) or just generally talk about what is on my mind on that day etc?

Stating The Obvious

Good evening all, I hope you have all had a good New Year, and settled back in at work now. Straight to the point tonight, watching TV about life on Earth and how we couldn't live without the oceans and how the current move oxygen, blah blah blah.  When the narrator then said that Plankton produce around 50% of oxygen on Earth. He then said in the next breath "that's almost as much as all the forest, trees and plants combined".  You don't say! Where else did you think the remaining 50% came from? That wasn't all, after that, I caught the end of a documentary about the prisoners who escaped from Alcatraz and how bones had been found on a shore nearby. They went on to say that these could belong to "Prisoner X" and will do tests.  About 10 minutes later, after talking about other bits and bobs, they got around to the results. Turned out that they weren't the remains of Prisoner X.  Again, stating the obvious, the narrator said "If the bone
