Wedding Planning

Image
So you may know, we got engaged in November 2014 with a date set in September 2018 - so 4 years to plan. It's now the end of 2016 and time is now quickly running out - other than an overall idea of what we want to do, there is no real plan in place. All we knew was that roughly we'd do 10 days in Vegas, 10 days driving and 10 days in NYC (+ or - a day here and there).

Editing My NYC Footage

Image
A thread if anyone is interested... Here are my timelines so far... And I've not even started on Thursday yet. Over 100Gb, and 215 files! 85Gb (about 165 files) are in 4k! The rest is 2.7k.

AOTW - Week 26; Slipknot - Slipknot

Image
Something I said I would not  listen to....

AOTW - Week 25; Taylor Swift - Fearless

Image
Running behind again - sorry

AOTW - Week 24; Dolly Parton - Love Is Like A Butterfly

Image
Finally back up-to-date, and back on to some Country music.

AOTW - Week 23; Florence and the Machine - Lungs

Image
A blast from the past. I remember Dog Days Are Over coming on on the radio on the way home from work one evening, and I was nodding away to it. So time to see what a full album is like.

AOTW - Week 22; Kendrick Lamar - Good Kid, M.A.A.D City

Image
Another album from the joys of playing GTA V. There seems to be a couple of songs either his or him featuring whenever I'm the Franklin character.

AOTW - Week 21; Janet Jackson - Design of a Decade

Image
Another album picked by the other half. Janet Jackson

AOTW - Week 20; Miles Davis - Kind of Blue

Image
Apologies, I've gotten behind on these recently. Week 20 was another Jazz inspired album in the form of Miles Davis

Project "BBQ Deck House" - Using My Noggin

Image
After a ton of research, I cannot find anywhere that advises on the spacing of what I have recently discovered are called "noggins". My initial plan looked like overkill, and from various online sources some even said you don't need them for decking as the deck itself acts as a noggin.

Project "BBQ Deck House" - A Tweak To The Plans

Image
Over the weekend I was looking at the designs again, and decided to start adding measurements to the plans. That's when I noticed I got the front face wrong. Instead of being 8.1m, I did it at 8.0m. Not a massive amount, but enough that meant I needed to revise the plans.

Project "BBQ Deck House"

Image
Okie dokie, here we go. A short sweet intro. A couple of months back (well, maybe the end of 2015) we decided we would look at a new place to live. So we popped along to a show house on a new build and had a think. After a few months of thinking and looking, we've decided to stay put.

AOTW - Week 19; Marlena Shaw - The Spice Of Life

Image
Moving from last week's Country & Western music, onto another big genre in 60s America - Soul/Jazz music.

AOTW - Week 18; Tammy Wynette - D-I-V-O-R-C-E

Image
Another late write up, sorry. Well this is another album I've chosen to listen to thanks to playing GTA V again recently :D

AOTW - Week 17; Prince - Purple Rain

Image
A late write up here. With the passing of Prince, it was only fitting that Week 17 would have to be a Prince album.

AOTW - Week 16; Lauryn Hill - The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill

Image
We're getting well into my AOTW "project" now, already on Week 16! This week is Lauryn Hill.

AOTW - Week 15; Fleetwood Mac - Rumours

Image
This week's album was a suggestion from another one of the lads I play pool with.

AOTW - Week 14; Johnny Cash - Ring Of Fire The Best Of Johnny Cash

Image
This is an album I've been meaning to listen to for a few years, but only just got around to it.

AOTW - Week 13; Dire Straits - Brothers In Arms

Image
This one was a suggestion from my 75 year old pool playing friend. I've heard of them, but couldn't name any of their songs.... So let's see what it's all about.

AOTW - Week 12; Paloma Faith - A Perfect Contradiction

Image
Another week for a double write up (I didn't have the chance to write this last week). Week 12 was spent listening to Paloma Faith......

AOTW - Week 11; Peter Gabriel - So

Image
Another album based on a suggestion by a forum member. Didn't have a clue what to expect - I have never heard of the guy (AFAIK) and didn't even know what genre he was/is.

AOTW - Week 10; Adam Follett - FAWM 2016

Image
Something different for Week 10 - nothing mainstream. For those who don't know, FAWM stands for February Album Writing Month ( http://fawm.org/ ). Adam is the boyfriend of a friend/ex-colleague of mine, and I've used a track of his in a video I created last year.

AOTW - Week 9; Metallica - Black Album

Image
This weeks album comes as a suggestion from one of my best mates. After a conversation last week whilst playing pool, he suggested this album may be "suitable" for me. So here we are.

AOTW - Week 8; Aurora - All My Demons Greeting Me As A Friend

Image
This weeks album comes as a suggestion from DampDog. After my AOTW listening to First Aid Kit, he thought I may enjoy this.

AOTW - Week 7; Britney Spears - Femme Fatale

Image
This weeks album comes as a suggestion from the other half. She loves Britney spears. So I decided I'd give some of her "newer" stuff a try.

AOTW - Week 6; First Aid Kit - Stay Gold

Image
I keep hearing their song "Silver Lining" on the Renault Kajar advert, so that's what made me decide to listen to this is my Album of the Week.

AOTW - Week 5; Adele - 21

Image
Someone I've heard on the radio, and an artist the other half listens too. I thought it was time to see why people go mad for her.

AOTW - Week 4; Ryan Adams - Gold

Image
A late posting for week 4, this time, a Ryan Adams album.

AOTW - Week 3; David Bowie - Hunky Dory

Image
This week's album is the first "proper" album I've listened to - ie, no YouTube "Greatest Hits" play list types.

AOTW - Week 2; Nina Simone - Greatest Hits

Image
So, for week 2, it was Nina Simone. Other than a few songs I've heard in the past - but didn't know she was the singer - I just couldn't get into it. Great for background music, in a strange kind of way.

AOTW - Week 1; Norah Jones - Greatest Hits

Image
One I have listened to many times in the past - and only because she has 2 songs on a NYC playlist I listen to now and then. Originally I thought she was someone from the 60s or something. But listening to this album, I realise she's more modern.

Album of the Week (AOTW) 2016

I decided a few weeks ago that in 2016 I would try and listen to a different album/playlist each week. The idea is to try and listen to music I probably wouldn't have considered a few years ago - maybe it's a sign of age? If you have any requests on what I should listen to, post them in here. The only thing I will not listen to is that awful heavy metal stuff where it sounds like they have swallowed a microphone and are very angry (although I'd be angry if I swallowed a microphone).
