Welly Merck - Classic Washington

So, a month or so ago I received an email out of the blue from the Marketing Director of Welly Merck asking if I would do a YouTube video for them. So I did.

At first glance, the style makes me think of a few of my Skagen watches. So much so, I spent hours trying to find who is behind the brand. Could they be part of the Fossil group, or possibly Swatch? Well, it turns out no. From what I can gather they are a Kickstarter company.

First impressions are, it's rather nice looking. I asked them to send me anything, other than gold (I hate gold). After looking at their site (www.wellymerck.com), this is the one I was hoping to receive.

The first thing I noticed was the crown at the 4 o'clock position. Different, but certainly not game changing. There's also a lack of second had and date indicator. 

The second hand I can live without, but the date indicator not so much. I have one other watch without a date indicator, but as I only wear it at weekends, it's not often I look for it. I am now on day 2 of wearing this watch, and already I've glanced at it half a dozen times for the date. Grrr.....

The Mollusc - AKA "Chesterfield Snail"

Last week I decided to pop along and take a look at the Mollusc, based on the edge of Chesterfield in a small park by a housing estate. Originally I wanted to be there for sunset, but when I went by, there were a fair few kids playing football on the park. Not wanting to either be hassled, or have parents come out, I decided to leave it. So I went back later in the afternoon - fully expecting it to be busy. Other than 1 dog walker, who left after about 5 minutes, I was all on my own.

Working On Nicholas Nickleby

My editing set up As I mentioned in the last post, I'm currently working on a promotional video for the World Premiere of a musical adaptation of Nicholas Nickleby. Whilst working on this edit, I was chatting online to one of my "online buddies" Godwyn, and started talking about the editing process. It was then I realised, how complex it can get - even for a small YouTuber like me. God knows how they go on when editing for a blockbuster film. For this video, I started off by creating a simple animated introduction using Adobe After Effects. I then created a bunch of "lower 3rds" for the cast/staff that I knew would be on camera. From there, I then use the dynamic link feature in Premiere Pro to drag these in and over the top of your video.
